Circular Flow Model Chart for Cinderella and her Family
![Picture](/uploads/1/3/5/8/13582712/3151923.jpg)
Cinderella is a story of lack of material wealth versus a great deal of material wealth. Upon the death of her father, she was basically a pauper with no means to get what she wanted or needed. Thanks goodness the fairy godmother dropped in! Goods and services and the lack thereof for poor Cinderella were an important component of that fairy tale. Without a dress, shoes, and transportation, she could not go to the ball and hopefully change her lot in life. For this module, we will suspend disbelief and assume that Cinderella's fairy godmother had deep pockets with the money of that time in them instead of a magic wand. In other words, the fairy godmother had to obtain the goods and services needed rather than conjure them. We already know the stepsisters and stepmother had to shop. So, did the prince. for that matter.
Assignment:
Watch or read the story of Cinderella. Review the tenants of the Circular Flow Model Chart by watching the video below or reviewing your information from your Economics class.
Place Cinderella, her fairy godmother, her stepmother and stepsisters and the goods and services they need to go to the ball onto your own Circular Flow Model chart that you create. You could even include the prince, and what he will need to host the ball. For instance, I would put Cinderella in the consumers/household box and put her ball gown in the product/output market box. You get the idea!
Use Gliffy or Bubblus from Brightspace's Toolbox or use Microsoft Word's Smart Art or Shapes to create your Circular Flow Model. Word's shapes might be a good way to go so that you have plenty of space for everyone. You may also draw your chart, as well, as long as it is neat and very legible when you scan it to send to me.
Once your chart is complete, please email the Word document or the link to me with the subject line, "Cinderella's Circular Flow Model Chart." Make sure your complete name is on your finished product.

Cinderella is currently (4/2015) showing in the movie theaters. You could make an evening or afternoon of it at the mall, and go see check it out.
You could also go to the public library and check out one of their versions of Cinderella. Please feel free to substitute a Cinderella story from a different culture, maybe your own. One of my favorites in Yeh Shen, the Chinese Cinderella story. There are a fairy godfish, brocaded slippers, a landslide of rocks, but the basic Cinderella story is there. Please identify your version, though, if you choose this route. I particularly like Ai-Lin Louie's version, Yeh-Shen; A Chinese Cinderella Story, illustrated by Ed Young.
